Design drawing titled "Dining Room Chairs - Painted in Black with Gold Decorations" with two views. Perspective view of an arm chair is rendered in watercolor and pencil; perspective view of side chair is in pencil only. Fancy-style armchair has rectangular crest; upper horizontal splat composed of three thin rods with five balls between each rod; lower horizontal splat of two thin rods separated by five balls; stiles with turned rings at bottom; arm supports with ball-ring-baluster-ring-baluster turnings; shaped caned seat; scrolled arms; round tapered raked back legs; round tapered front legs with ball turnings above and small ball feet; round turned back and side stretchers; and front stretcher of two thin rods separated by five balls. Chair is painted black and has extensive painted decoration including flowers and foliage on crest. balls, ring turnings, and imitation stringing throughout. Side chair is of similar design with the exception that three balls instead of five separate the splat and stretcher rods. Title and "Rush Seats" is handwritten on front. Handwritten on the back is "[Model No.] 1562," "1410" and "3422-3" are handwritten on back. Blind stamped at lower left corner is "Irving and Casson / A. H. Davenport Co. / Boston - New York."
