Description

This rectangular genre painting depicts a young girl dressed in a white chemise seated on a thick feather bed. In her lap she holds a small jewel casket, from which she is removing a white beaded necklace with a pendant cross. The bed is surrounded by dark red drapery. A demi-lune side table sits against the wall to the right of the bed. A silver urn sits atop the table. The panel is signed at the lower right in oil and on the back in pencil. It is framed in a veneer frame, possibly not original
