Description

Board with tongue and groove edges and two layers of wallpaper. First (earliest) layer is a block printed floral design, printed in irise blue and brown over white on ungrounded paper. Design consists of large six-petalled flowers; each petal contains a foliate design. Around the flowers are meandering vines with flowers, berries, and possible pine cones. This paper dates to c. 1815-1825. The second paper is a machine printed floral pattern, consisting of stripes formed by alternating ogees separated by six-petalled green flowers. The ogees are formed of a brown lattice pattern overlaid with brown rose vines. Between the stripes are more green flowers on gray foliate sprigs. Green, brown, and gray on a yellow ground. This paper dates to c. 1850-1870.\n
