Description

Photo album titled: "Church Chairs 9." Title is hand printed on a round paper label affixed to spine; volume number is also printed on a paper label affixed to spine. Album has a heavy textured dark brown covering and is held together with two metal brads. Album has 110 olive green pages; twelve of the pages are blank. Album contains 98 mounted black-and-white photographs. Photographs are of a variety of church armchairs, some with kneelers, manufactured by A. H. Davenport Co., Irving and Casson, and their successor, Irving and Casson - A. H. Davenport Co. The order number and year are often shown on a display in the photographs. Customer names are handwritten on several album pages. Named customers are: Church of the Covenant (Erie, PA); St. Agatha's Church (Philadelphia, PA); and Zion Memorial Chapel (New Hamburg, NY). Also present in the album are the following loose items: (1) three copies of Irving and Casson - A. H. Davenport Co. ad for the "Marine Engineer" (date not specified), stating "Special Attention Given to Ship Furnishings;" (2) reproduction of photograph of pedestal table; (3) five photographs of tables with two customer names noted (J. W. Hayden of Boston, MA and Farrington); and (4) stock card for table model M3039A with photograph on one side and production notes on reverse.
