Description

Needlework picture. Picture laid out in an oval form. At center sits a woman in a yellow dress beneath a large tree. She is surrounded by three young children. The youngest, sitting on her lap, is wearing a pink dress. Young boy in blue skeleton suit with red slippers extends a basket to a young girl standing on the woman's left. The young girl wears a lavender colored dress and yellow slippers. Silk floss in satin stitch and french knots. Details of the faces are worked in ink. Background worked in vivid horizontal stripes of green, yellow, pink, and blue. Silk taffeta ground. Rectangular, with plain woven linen borders whip stitched to each edge. Linen is pierced for stitching into an embroidery frame. Pencil inscription at top and bottom.
