Subseries A, Other papers, 1805-1910, undated (#2.2, 2.8, C.2.63-C.3.32, C.3.16, OB.1.4, OB.3.10), contains advertisements; account books and related papers; bills related to John Merrill and Gardner Walker; calling/visiting cards; reward of merit cards; clippings; a penmanship copybook; correspondence; drawings and sketchbooks; legal documents; an 1862 muster roll for the Windham Infantry Militia; program bulletins; promissory notes; handwritten recipes (#C.3.23); a school craft project of miniature books (#C.3.26); school essays and other writings; and trade cards; belonging to unidentified family members who inhabited the Parson Smith Homestead in South Windham, Maine. The drawings and sketchbooks contain ink, oil, and pencil drawings and sketches of landscapes, houses, embroidery patterns, floral and plant life, etc., and include an 1879 book list from the Deering Public Library Association (#2.8) and an undated hand-drawn street map (#C.3.3). The collection of clippings contains examples of line engravings and both black and white, and color drawings of animals, people, landscapes, etc., taken from newspapers, journals, and other published mediums. The trade cards focus on businesses, clothing, dry goods, food, and medicine. Also contained in the subseries is a collection of papers belonging to George W. Warren (dates unknown), which include correspondence; a handwritten school newsletter, Student's Pickaxe; other school writings and notes; and a circa 1888 certificate (issue number 299) relating to the purchase of a "Darley Gallery of Shakespearian Illustrations." The subseries is arranged alphabetically by record type, then by topic, and thereunder chronologically.
