Subseries B, Genealogical material and memorabilia, 1822-1871, undated (#1.18-1.21, C.1.1-C.1.4, OB.1.6), contains clippings, ephemera, genealogical material, memorabilia, and a marriage certificate. The clippings include articles regarding the ancestry of Abraham Lincoln (U.S. President, 1861-1865) and Julia Ward Howe (1819-1910), author of the "Battle Hymn of the Republic"; and articles regarding the life and activities of Marie Vipont deRiviere (Doane) Merwin (1878-1965) and Edward Payson Merwin (died 1936). The ephemera includes postcards from Tarporley, County of Cheshire, England, United Kingdom; a list of paintings associated with the Merwin House in Stockbridge, Massachusetts; and a flyer regarding the Eastham, Massachusetts, windmill on Cape Cod. Genealogical material includes genealogical charts; clippings; and family history and genealogical notes regarding the Doane and Merwin families. Also included in the subseries is an 1871 marriage certificate for William Edward Doane (1842-1923) and Elizabeth Adeline (Wilson) Doane (1846-1932); and a wallet belonging to Marie Vipont deRiviere (Doane) Merwin (1878-1965), which includes a miniature magnifying glass, photographs of the Merwin House, and related material.
