Description

Small, round pasteboard bandbox (A) and lid (B) from New Ipswich, New Hampshire. The box is covered with a figured landscape wallpaper depicting a standing man presenting a seated woman with a bouquet of flowers in a pastoral setting. Couple wears Empire-style dress. Wallpaper is block-printed in black, white and two blues on blue ground. Several fragments of red fabric with a yellow and black pattern are affixed to the wallpaper. A fabric cover must have been added over the wallpaper and later removed.
