Two fragments of Art Nouveau wallpaper from the Whitney House, Stow, Massachusetts. Large scale design incorporating stylized flowers, vines and fruit into arch or striped pattern. Roller-printed in olive on olive ground.

"From / Old Whitney house, Whitney Rd. / built before 1750 / Stow Mass / An earlier paper, probably the first - / I have seen as a few fragments are / still at the house - This is a / later paper!" (handwritten)
"Dear Dottie / I imagine you may have / retired from reproducing wallpaper / but because a friend, who lives in our old house across the road, gave / me some samples I'm sending them / along to you... one of these samples was taken from / behind an old corner cubbard in the / big fireplace room and one from under / a window frame and another layer / of wallpaper in an upstairs bedroom."
