Rectangular, vertical format, full-length portrait, in pencil and crayon, of Lyman S. Hapgood as a child, showing him in a left profile view, sitting in an old-fashioned high chair posed with the sea and a sailboat in teh background. The child wears a broad-brimmed straw hat with wide blue ribbon, a blue striped dress and high-buttoned black boots.
