Description

Painted black (new) banister-back side chair. Arched scroll surmounts four turned and split baluster shaped banisters which fit into molded lower rail. Stiles turned to match balusters and topped with vase-and-ball finials. Rectangular seat, reupholstered with Victorian pieced quilt pattern ("Baby's Blocks") in silk, velvet and brocade. Front legs turned in vase-and-block forms; rear legs plain and square. Front stretcher has baluster-and-ring turning; sides have two simpler turned stretchers; rear has plain stretcher. Legs below stretchers are missing.
