Description

Set of curtains and slipcovers. Copperplate printed cotton textile depicts vignettes of a man, his son, and a donkey, printed in red on a white ground. The scenes are based on an Aesop's fable by the same name. Originally printed by the Oberkampf factory in Jouy-en-Jousas, France, this print was based on a design by Jean Baptiste Huet after Jean Baptiste Oudry's original. This popular design originated circa 1806 but continued in popularity well into the 20th century.
