White wool shawl w/ red and blue paisley border.
On exhibit in England? "21. A very nice plaid similar in design and quality to the Kirking Plaids which were traditionally worn by new brides and young mothers to their first church services after the wedding or after the birth of the baby. However, they tend to have a predominantly blue colour scheme, not this grey/red. It appears to date to the 1850s. Note the "voided" pines--i.e. the edge of the pine is defined by an absence of pattern rather than by a hard outline."
