"Benjamin Willis Born Charles Town, Mass., Mar.[...] 1768/ Died Haverhill Mass. Oct 2 1853/ mar Mary Mc Kinstry./ Their daughter Mary became the wife/ of James H. Ducan of Haverhill./ Photograph by Victory of Haverhill of an/ original painting at miss Caroline/ Ducans in Haverhill. Feb. 1907./ The original is a painting in oil on canvas/ and hung for forty years over the mantel/ in the Library at Haverhill. It was painted/ by [blank] Cole about 1825. A very/ similar portrait perhaps a copy, is in/ possession of Georgge Willis's family, see/ Pauline Willis's book page 42./ Labelled 1907 by Stephen W. Phillips/ The portrait now belongs to/ James H.
