Description

This engraving shows the front façade of the Thomas Hutchinson House, which was located between Hanover Street and North Square in Boston, Massachusetts. A man walks along the front path to the door. Hutchinson was lieutenant-governer of the Massachusetts colony from 1758 to 1771 and then governor until 1774. Hutchinson lived in the three-story Georgian town house starting in 1765. At the end of his office, he returned to England and died there in 1780.
