Description

Membership certificate in a 1 1/2 in. wood and gilt frame of R.H. Tucker, Jr. to Solomon's Lodge. Under the two-pillared shape of a house, Tucker is accepted into the lodge. An eye is placed by center in the house, beneath an open book, and the words Faith, Hope, Charity, Wisdom, Strength, and Beauty form the base of the columns.

Inscription

Printed beneath print: ""Burges & James, Printers, No. 6 Broadstreet, Charleston"" Written on the membership certificate, it is stated: ""...know ye. that the Bearer hereof, Brother Rd. H. Tucker Junr has been regularly Initiated as an Entered Apprentice, passed as a Fellow Craft, and Raised/ to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason...we, the Worshipful Master, Wardens and Brethren of/ Solomon's Lodge, No.1 recommend that he be received and acknowledged as such by....Given at Charleston State of South Carolina, in the United/ States of America, this tenth day of April/ in the year of Light 5847...""--see worksheet for further information and inscription.
