Stephen Phillips (II.)/b. d./Merchant of Salem./This silhouette must have been done/early in the 19th Century as he gave/up wearing a tie wig early./This silhouette remained at his old home/17 Chestnut St. Salem till at the death of his/grandaughter Miss Jane P. Phillips it/came to me. Labelled 1911 by Stephen W. Phillips V./J.D. Phillips has a similar one." (Handwritten in black ink)
