Description

Portrait of Sally Foster Otis, Mrs. Harrison Gray Otis (1770-1836). Complicated pose, half-length seated, turned to her right. She wears lace cap, ermine trimmed velvet cape; green dress with white chemisette with ruching of sheer material. Red swagged curtain appears at left. Dark flat background. Red upholstered chair. Frame: elaborate molded gesso; floral, foliate and scroll decoration, concentrated at corners.
