Description

Pink strip alternated with black and white pinstripe, with Chine' warp pattern of small pink and black dots arranged in (vertical) rows; Dress (A) - stained - broad neckline trimmed with bands of black and white lace with black velvet ribbon; drawstring neckline; capped sleeves - puffed, with net undersleeve; boned, natural waistband, hook and eye and lace back closure; lined with white cotton; skirt is extremely full; applied white satin bands with black lace and black velvet ribbon, along seams and 3 rows around; scalloped in front; rosettes made of same satin and lace band; fully lined with crinoline, pocket on right side; Bodice (B) - matching bodice - broad neckline with lace trim and black velvet ribbon; drawstring neck; capped sleeves with puffed net undersleeve with pink ribbon; sleeves, shoulders and peplum trimmed with black velvet lattice and pink, cream and black silk fringe; 9 pink (with black and white silk) buttons; boned; white cambric lining; Apron (C) - matching apron with pointed panels and trimmed with cream satin and black lace band; also used at waistband and rosettes at center front. Fragment (D) - Pink stripe alternating with black and white pinstripes, with chine' pattern (in warp) of pink and black dots arranged in rows; rolled and tied as found.
