Label

Walk Right In 11/5/98-3/27/99 In the eighteenth century, leather clogs were custom-made to fit over high-heeled buckle shoes. The clog's heel socket held the shoe in place, while its flat sole prevented the shoe's heel from penetrating soft ground. The clog's straps were laced and covered with fabric that matched the buckle shoe. This pair of clogs was brought from Enlgand and worn by a member of the Abbot family of Bedford, Massachusets.
