In the middle ground is a spit of land jutting into the water occupied by four houses and a sailboat nearby. Green distant hills are dotted with horses and blue delineate hills in the far distance. The sky, reflected in the water, is delineated in soft pinks and blue to suggest twilight. The frame is unpainted dark wood with a gilded inner lip.
