In black paint on the image is written: ""PRUD.ce WATERS, AEt 24."" On a typewritten jelly label on the lower left of the frame reverse is written: ""Mrs. Samuel Waters, 1755-1837/Prudence Winchester Waters,/of Grafton and Sutton, Mass./Painted by Winthrop Chandler/ between March and November/1779."" Scrawled in chalk and pencil on the left frame reverse, three times is: ""Borodom"" The frame measurements are scrawled across the top frame reverse in pencil.
