Description

Framed needlework coat of arms of the Little family. Worked on golden (off-white) silk ground; shows shield with a cross, profiled helmet above, crest of head with crossed palms/stalks by the inscription- in the manner of John Coles Sr. under reverse-painted glass with a black and gold edge; in original gessoed and gilded wooden frame. The family inscription reads "BY THE/NAME OF/LITTLE". Colors include:gold, red, 2 blues, and brown. Needlework on satin.

On a brass plaque reads: LITTLE COAT OF ARMS/WORKED BY/ABIGAIL LITTLE 1787-1871 . In ink on a paper backing, giving decent of Abigail from George and Alice (Poor) Little of Newbury.
