Description

Earthenware plate with scalloped rim and green transfer-print scene with red border. The transfer-print pattern, "Washington", depicts a statue of a seated man in Roman military dress in front of trees, fence and urn. In the scene's mid-ground, three men stand beside a river with domed and other buildings on the far shore. The border is printed with flowers and fruit alternating with a scene of a tomb or mausoleum on a rock outcrop with ruins in the foreground.\n
