Label

This may be a souvenir chatelaine from a European trip taken in 1873, as the winged lion is a symbol of St. Mark, the patron of Venice, Italy. The other charms indicate travel to (or at least souvenirs from) Germany and an Islamic country.

Inscription

Lion charm: " PAK / TIEI / MARC / EDI / GEU / MEUD"
Coin: "DEUTSCHE REICH 1873 / 20 / PFENNING" (The Lion's inscription is in Latin. Translated roughly, it means "Peace be upon you, O Mark, my Evangelist" Venetian legend holds that an angel reportedly said this to St. Mark when he stood near the lagoon that would become one day Venice.)
