The house is part of Historic New England’s Preservation Easement Program, a national model for saving privately owned historic homes. Bishop House has many significant architectural elements that are protected under the easement. Among these are the soft and hardwood floors, plaster work, hearths, woodwork, certain hardware, and the interior configuration of the rooms. The exterior elevations, foundation, chimney, and roof profiles are also subject to protection under the easement.
