Honor the role of women in New England history with two special tours during Women’s History Month this March.
On Saturday, March 12, Ladies of the House focuses on the women who lived at Otis House in Boston from the late eighteenth to the late nineteenth century. Hear about socialite and political wife Sally Foster Otis, physician Mrs. Mott, and the four sisters—the Misses Williams—who operated a boarding house in the Federal-style mansion.
Of course, women’s history is central to the stories of most Historic New England sites. From Eliza Susan Quincy at Quincy House (Quincy, Massachusetts) to Jane Tucker at Castle Tucker (Wiscasset, Maine), the women who recorded and saved their own family histories are the reason we can tell these stories today.
