Castle Tucker piazza windows receive TLC

Feb 13, 2015

Despite frigid temperatures and never-ending snow, the work began this week. The large triple-hung sash windows on the second floor of the mainfaçade of the piazza, originally installed in 1860, were removed for repair by Begala Window Works of Falmouth, Maine. The sash and glass will beinspected, repaired as necessary, painted, and re-glazed according to HistoricNew England’s preservation philosophy.

While the windows are out for repair, Historic New England is taking the opportunity to have the window paint professionally analyzed by Sutherland Conservation and Consulting of Augusta, Maine.

The piazza window repair is part of a multi-year scope of preservation work underway at Castle Tucker. Support the long-term sustainability of Historic New England properties with a gift to the Preservation Maintenance Fund.
