Description: Historic New England seeks a dynamic candidate to fill the position of regional site manager in Metro Boston. The regional site manager serves as Historic New England’s liaison to Metro Boston communities and operates the museums located in the region in conjunction with other Historic New England teams and within procedures established by Historic New England leadership. The regional site manager is responsible for the management and marketing of Otis House in Boston, the Lyman Estate in Waltham, and Winslow Crocker House in Yarmouth Port, as well as the supervision of two additional site managers who are responsible for five other historic museum properties in the Metro Boston region.

The primary goals of the regional site manager are to:

Qualifications: The successful candidate will possess strong administrative, management, and organizational skills; adjust easily to changing priorities; and have the ability to work independently. They will have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and at least four years of job-related and/or translatable experience with non-profit institutions managing historic site operations, including financial skills. Requires fully competent computer skills including skilled use of MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel spreadsheet functions, and email. Must be able to operate effectively in a team environment, where communication within and among teams is essential to success. Ability to interact diplomatically and communicate effectively orally and in writing is essential. The position requires a valid driver’s license and means of transportation as well as the ability to work evening and weekend hours as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Work Environment: As typically performed, this position regularly involves talking, hearing, sitting, standing, walking, and bending/stooping. The position also involves lifting up to fifty pounds. The employee must perform functions including basic keyboarding and electronic and paper database/file management, operation of basic hand tools, and handling of artifacts, each of which typically requires manual dexterity in combination with eye-hand coordination. The position also requires constantly reading documents for general understanding.
