Classification: Full-time (forty hours per week)
Location: Dresden, Maine
Description: Historic New England is looking for a candidate to fill the newly created position of Preservation Manager, Mid-Coast Maine. This position is a responsible for overseeing the preservation of four historic properties in Dresden, Wiscasset, and Standish, Maine, including oversight of all repairs, maintenance, and capital improvements, and ensuring they meet the organization’s preservation philosophy. In addition to developing and overseeing projects and regular maintenance, this position is expected to be hands-on, performing basic maintenance to keep properties operating smoothly. The Preservation Manager is responsible for coordinating work within the property care team and with other Historic New England teams. This includes working closely with landscape and carpentry crew staff, collections staff, historic site managers who manage day-to-day operation of the properties, and the development office in raising funds for property care needs.
Preferred Qualifications Experience with facility management, project management, HVAC, other mechanical systems, and security equipment desirable. Ability to troubleshoot and address minor maintenance issues.
Work Environment: As typically performed, this position regularly involves talking, hearing, sitting, standing, walking, and bending/stooping. This position also involves lifting up to fifty pounds. The employee must perform functions that include constant keyboarding and basic electronic and paper database and file management, each of which typically requires manual dexterity in combination with eye-hand coordination. The employee must be able to communicate clearly. The position also requires constantly reading documents for general understanding.
