Classification: Seasonal/part-time

Location: Nickels-Sortwell House, Wiscasset, Maine and Bowman House, Dresden, Maine

Historic New England seeks seasonal, part-time guides to work at two midcoast Maine houses for the 2022 season: Nickels-Sortwell House and Bowman House.  Bowman House will be open Thursdays and Saturdays. Nickels-Sortwell House will be open Fridays – Sundays, June – mid-October. Guide will conduct tours and assist with daily museum operations including online ticketing, opening and closing the museum and light cleaning.

Training is provided. Historic New England strictly adheres to all federal, state, and local COVID-19 prevention protocols.

Qualifications: Applicants must have knowledge of American history, enjoy working with the public, have excellent communications skills, and basic computer skills. Must be available weekends, have a flexible schedule, and commit to employment through the end of the 2022 season, (June through mid-October). Bachelor’s degree and prior museum, academic or historical organization experience is preferred. Verification of full COVID-19 vaccination status or exemption approved by Historic New England prior to the start date of employment is a mandatory requirement.
