Affiliate Membership
The Historic New England Affiliate membership category is designed for small to mid-sized historical societies and other proprietors of historic properties whose missions align with that of Historic New England. The program is open only to membership-based non-profit organizations. Historic New England Affiliates enjoy benefits for their organization and members, including access to best practices for preservation of their collections, landscapes, and properties.
Your organization benefits from exposure to our large national membership, from visibility on our high-traffic website, and from special opportunities to utilize Historic New England exhibits, programs, and services. Above all, this program seeks to be mutually beneficial to your organization and ours, with a common goal of bringing together people who care about New England heritage, preservation, and historic sites.

The Historic New England Affiliate membership is administered by an individual at the organization who serves as the primary contact for the institution’s membership and who receives benefits at the household level (typically a staff person or board member), plus additional benefits including:
- Twenty-five of your members receive Historic New England magazine three times per year and season passes to Historic New England sites
- Invitation for two to an annual Affiliates Forum focusing on topics relevant to historic property managers
- 10% discount on traveling exhibition rentals
- Listing and link on Historic New England website
- Option to offer free or reduced admission to your site to Historic New England members and receive additional promotional support through our website and printed materials
- Special offers and opportunities, such as group tours, membership support and growth programs, and special partnerships
- Free staff speaker presentation (must cover travel expenses)
The list of members to receive magazines and season passes is sent to us electronically in a spreadsheet at least once per year by your administrator, to update the magazine distribution list.
Additional a la carte benefits exclusive to Affiliate members
- Additional magazines and season passes for $100 per twenty-five increments
- One two-hour consultation per year with staff in any of our program
areas: Historic Properties, Collections, Archives and Publications,
Educational Programs, and Preservation Services
