Red Devons
When developing a grass-based livestock operation, sustainable soil fertility and nutritious forages are essential components of a successful production model. Equally important is the right choice of breed, one that will effectively perform well on grass. At Watson Farm the farmers focus on breeding heritage Red Devon cattle for superior genetics as well as developing the right “type” of Devon for producing healthy grass-fed and finished beef for local marketing. The Red Devon was selected for its docility, tenderness, and the ability to excel on grass alone.
