North Farm

In 1796, after years of farming the site, his son Robert built a simple farmhouse at the base of a large hill, where it would be protected from the winds of Narragansett Bay. For the next 190 years, five successive generations of the Watson family worked the “North Farm,” as it was called, making changes as needed to adapt to the evolving demands of the market. The last member of the family town the farm was Thomas Carr Watson, Jr., the great-great grandson of Job Watson.
