Narragansett Bay

The rich resources of Narragansett Bay have been harvested since the time of its earliest inhabitants, providing food for the indigenous population. Later, it provided valuable trading commodity for settlers who made their living by fishing and gathering lobster, oysters, and quahogs, or clams. Today there is still plenty of activity on the bay. Near Watson Farm’s shoreline is a four-acre aquaculture farm where scallops and oysters are raised and harvested for commercial use.
