Minerva (Minnie)
Species: Sheep Breed: Shetland Mix Shetland sheep are small and hearty and their wool is fine and easy to spin by hand. Born in 2006 The average lifespan of a healthy sheep is 10-15 years. Though animals have been known to live to 20, their teeth tend to break down after about age 10. Minnie eats grass, hay, and special pellet food in the winter. She and her friend Millie are still warming up to people but will eat a treat of carrots or grain from your hand. Minnie and her friend Millie were suffering from copper poisoning and neglect when they arrived at the MSPCA. Copper is a common ingredient in horse feeds but can be fatal for sheep. They are both healthy now and are checked regularly by a veterinarian.
