Betty

Species: Sheep Breed: Shetland Mix Shetland sheep are small and hearty and their wool is fine and easy to spin by hand. Born in 2007 Betty was part of a flock whose owner was unable to care for them. She had an untreated broken leg and when the MSPCA took the flock, her leg was amputated to prevent the spread of a bone infection. The average lifespan of a healthy sheep is 10-15 years. Though animals have been known to live to 20, their teeth tend to break down after about age 10. Betty eats grass, hay, and special pellet food in the winter. She and her friends Millie and Minnie are still warming up to people but will eat a treat of carrots or grain from your hand.
