Jane and James Rundlet silhouettes
James Rundlet built his house at age thirty-five. He married Jane Hill Rundlet, with whom he had thirteen children. He made a fortune first as a textile merchant, then as a textile manufacturer. The Federal-style house he built for his family displays the accumulation of four generations of Rundlets occupying the house continuously. These two silhouettes are the only images that exist of the couple, though many of their children’s portraits remain in the home.
