Butler's pantry

Many servants were required to maintain Roseland Cottage. Generally four to six staff provided regular support to the family, and more staff were called in for special engagements such as Henry C. Bowen’s Fourth of July celebrations. The utility spaces, such as the butler’s pantry seen here, stand in sharp contrast to the dining room and other principal rooms. They are designed for work, not for show or comfort.
