Anna Phillips’ household duties included working with the domestic staff, paying bills, and entertaining callers. After consulting with the cook, Anna ordered the family's food from S.S. Pierce and local grocers on her candlestick telephone. Anna was a very organized woman and we still have much of her paperwork today. As a prominent woman in Salem, Anna was a member of many social clubs and would have them meet here. She was a member of a sewing circle, the Threads and Needles; a bridge club; and during WWI she helped the Red Cross teach at-home first aid.
