Oval "Bow" parlor

The Oval or “Bow” Parlor, together with the ballroom, are the two rooms that remain as originally designed by McIntire in 1793. The oval shape is repeated in the ceiling moldings, the curved doors, and in the windows. The yellow walls are a hallmark of Federal interiors. Letters support that the room was used for important family gatherings such as christenings and small wedding ceremonies. The door opens out to the rear gardens and grounds, and is on a direct axis with the front door, allowing for a refreshing cross-breeze during the summer months.
