Front hall
In Colonel Hamilton's day, most visitors to the house would have arrived by boat and entered the house through the south door facing the river. Inside, a broad arch spans the wide center hallway. The wallpaper in the hall is a reproduction of Hamilton's original pillar and arch wallpaper commissioned by the Tysons. In the hallway and throughout the house, the floors are covered by Chinese straw matting.
