Ogden Codman Jr. recommended removing the Codman House billiard table from this room to create a library in the 1890s as billiard rooms were no longer in fashion. He wanted to make it the nicest and most comfortable room in the house. It was a less formal space for relaxing and reading. Many of the family portraits are hung here.
