Learn MoreHamilton House was built in 1785 by Colonel Jonathan Hamilton, a wealthy merchant. The gardens we appreciate so much today were created by Mrs. Emily Tyson, who purchased the property with her stepdaughter Elizabeth in 1898. Encouraged by their friend Sarah Orne Jewett, they restored the house and landscape.

Set in an expansive landscape of gardens, lawns, and meadows, Hamilton House offers two unique and beautiful locations for your wedding ceremony. The garden wedding ceremony (pictured above) showcases the beautifully maintained garden with its striking trellis. The trellis serves as a wonderful focal point of the garden and can serve as the backdrop to your ceremony. The river view wedding ceremony takes advantage of the property’s stunning view of the Salmon Falls River.
