Hamilton House Gardens
Hamilton House was built in 1785 by Colonel Jonathan Hamilton, a prominent merchant. The gardens we appreciate so much today were created by Mrs. Emily Tyson, who purchased the property with her stepdaughter Elizabeth in 1898. Encouraged by their friend Sarah Orne Jewett, they restored the house and landscape. The dramatic setting of the house and gardens above the Salmon Falls River makes this site a beautiful natural location for an event.
Historic New England makes the site available to wedding ceremonies and hopes that functions will draw new audiences to the property, attention to its preservation mission, and encourage appreciation of New England’s historic structures and landscapes.
Functions involving the serving of food and/or drink are permitted for small groups. During your event, staff members will be on site to supervise the function. Their responsibilities will be to supervise deliveries and parking, enforce site policy and security, and assist with site related needs of the party. Please note that the house museum and grounds remain open to the public during all ceremonies.
You will need to contract with an outside source for chairs, musicians, and photographers if you require their services. The Hamilton House is equipped with two restrooms, one handicapped accessible.
Rates
$400 per hour, during event
$200 per hour, set-up and clean-up
A non-refundable down payment of $200 is required to book a date. Full payment is due thirty days before the event.

Directions: Take I-95 to Maine Exit 3. Follow Route 236 north for nine miles. After junction with Route 91, take first left onto Brattle Street. Take second right onto Vaughan's Lane and continue to the end.
