Salem Now and Then

Salem, Massachusetts

House of the Seven Gables
Salem, Mass.

More than home to witches, Salem, Massachusetts, is home to several cultural institutions that celebrated milestone anniversaries in 2010. Partnering with Historic New England were the Bowditch Institute and the House of the Seven Gables Settlement Association, which marked their centennials, and the Salem Athenaeum, commemorated its two hundredth year. Salem Now and Then kicked off with a day of free entry to these institutions, birthday cakes, trolley tours, and family activities.

The Preservation Movement Then and Now was on view at the House of the Seven Gables during regular hours Saturday, March 21 through Sunday, April 15.

Collaborative programs included a presentation of Preserving New England: The Life and Legacy of William Sumner Appleton at the House of the Seven Gables.
