Description

A view down Riedesel Avenue to the intersection with Brattle Street in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Snow covers the ground and the gabled roof of a Shingle-style residence. A horse-drawn trolley car is seen on Brattle Street. Baron Riedesel commanded the troops from Brunswick, Germany hired by the English to fight in the Revolutionary War. The American forces captured his wife and him in 1777, and they were imprisoned in a nearby house at the corner of Brattle and Sparks Streets.
