The image would have been before 1874 when Washington Street was changed to Roxbury Street. A male figure stands on the sidewalk on Gardner Street. Above Gardner, Centre Street can be seen. On the lower right corner the matte is stamped "Augustine H. Folsom, Phot., No. 2 Soren's Block, Roxbury and 123 Washinton St. Boston."
