Opening of the Cape Cod Canal invitation

Description

A formal invitation that reads: "Mr. August Belmont, President, and the Directors of the Cape Cod Construction Company request the pleasure of your company at the opening of the Cape Cod Canal on Wednesday, the twenty-ninth of July, Nineteen hundred and fourteen." In the bottom left corner are the words: "R.S.V.P. Forty-three Exchange Place, New York." Included with the invitation is a blank envelope and the envelope in which both were mailed. The invitation is addressed to Captain Derke Wulder(?), Cape Cod Canal, Sandwich, Mass., and it is postmarked July 21, 1914.
