Series VIII, James Pierce (1786-1827) papers, 1798-1800, undated (#1.69), contains six poems written or copied from other sources by Pierce, aged 11-13 years. Two of the poems were presumably produced while Pierce attended the South Grammar School [? Dorchester, Massachusetts]. Some of the works are embellished with calligraphic flourishes.
